Reminder:
In order to be sure not to compromise any of your precious ada, your wallets must be downloaded from official and secure sources.

At Proof of Africa, we recommand you to install one of those 2 wallets :
- Yoroi, developed by EMURGO for a light Wallet,
- Daedalus, developed by IOHK for a full node of the Cardano blockchain. With it, you will run a passive node on your computer (without producing blocks) and you keep a copy of the entire blockchain.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to download and use the Yoroi wallet within the Firefox ecosystem. Except for the add-on downloading, the Wallet functionning is excatly the same in Chrome.

Step 1 : Visit the Emurgo website

.

From the Yoroi Desktop Extension, you will be directed to either Firefox or Chrome Add-Ons libraries.

Step 2 : Download and install the Add-On

.

For obvious security reasons,
be sure to only install official add-ons.

Step 3 : Configurate Yoroi

.

.

For the Shelley release, new languages have been added.
14 are already available.

.

.

.

.

.

Terms of use,
nothing special in this section.

To be read carefully.

.

.

The level of interface complexity does not have a very important impact for most users.
You can fully use the wallet and the delegation mode with the “Simple” interface.
We recommend new users to proceed with this “Simple” version.
This can be changed later on in the settings.

Step 4: Create a new Wallet

.

Several options are available especially for hardware wallet owners.

.

.

.

In this guide, we will only focus on the creation of a new on-line wallet.

.

.

.

.

This step of creating a wallet name and a spending password is really important.
Be sure to safely keep you spending password because you will need it everytime you want to send ada from your wallet or when you want to delegate them.

.

.

BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS WITH THE THREE COMING STEPS. The are of a crucial importance.

Yoroi will assign you a RECOVERY PHRASE or a “wallet backup phrase”.
This 15 random words are your ONLY way to backup or restore your wallet’s funds.

.

.

As advised by Yoroi, make sure you have carefully written down your recovery phrase somewhere safe.

.

A confirmation will be asked to be sure you have written the right phrase.

.

.

We advise you to store it written on a piece of paper in several safe locations.
Do not keep your recovery phrase on-line !

Step 5 : Allocate ada to your Yoroi wallet address

.

At this stage, you are the proud owner of a Cardano wallet.
Let see how we can transfer ada on it.

.

Go in the “Receive” section.
Your will see you wallet address.
You can copy/paste it or scan the QR code in the exchange you bought your ada from.

.

.

Within seconds, your funds will be available in Yoroi and ready to be used !

Step 6 : Delegate your funds to POA

In the Delegation section, you will need to enter POA pool ID :

683e89fa1bcde139504b11fbfd
914f8ebe9b8db2678b3da0abd
cb2f1

.

.

After entering your spending password, the ada stored on this particular wallet address will be delegated to Proof of Africa !

Thank you for that !!

Step 7 : Monitor you rewards

Rewards will be sent automatically on your address by the Cardano protocol.
They will be sent at the end of each epoch, which means every 5 days.
You can monitor your rewards and the performance of the pool you delegate to in the “Dashboard” section.
